So I come home from kung-fu and flip around the stations to find something to watch while I chow down on some food. And... there's a show on public access tv called Fruit or Breast: The Game Show. It's hosted by a dude wearing a bra stuffed with oranges and a chick who stands in the back knitting. Between this and the show hosted by "Jenny" and her rabbit Bananas, I am becoming convinced that I need to bust into the public access television market. Seriously.
Also, according to Drew there have been lots of ufo sightings in Avebury recently. We'll be staying there next week. Between the haunted inn and the ufos, it's almost too much excitement for one girl to stand!

First- I ate fish this weekend! Raw fish! It was... not bad and not good. It was 100% neutral. But I'm willing to try it again.
Second- this show on CartoonNetwork called Chowder is the weirdest, most entertaining thing ever.
Third- thanks to
cayetana for recommending this week's This American Life. Jerry Springer's life story turns out to be absolutely fascinating. Harvard Law? Really? I would totally vote for Jerry Springer if given the chance.
Off to kung-fu! We've been plunging ahead really fast with some forms, it's been awesome lately.

What? How is it possible that Kickass Cupcakes is expanding? I do not support this supporting of crappy cupcakes. Speaking of cupcakes- a few weekends ago I tried cupcakes from Patsy's Pastries in Somerville, and I am somewhat happy to report that they were not that good. Lyndell's still wins, which makes me happy because I walk to Lyndell's from home, and I kind of fear finding the Perfect Cupcake someplace outside of reasonable walking distance. I guess if this is one of my concerns in life I'm doing pretty well.
I'm getting weirdly excited by the prospect of shopping at local farmer's markets this summer. I also think that once it gets nice, we may be able to obtain hay within a 30 minute drive for much less than the $50-60 a month we currently pay to get it shipped in from the midwest. But then again, it may not be early cut western Timothy hay, and I can't be serving lame hay to my bunnies. They have discerning tastes.
How much did The Office rock last night? Answer: So much! I want to host a dinner party. But a remarkably less awkward one.

Oh my god. After two straight hours of The Wire we needed some comedic relief. South Park came on, and I said to Drew, "It would be so perfect if this could be the Loch Ness Monster episode, but they never show it." And lo! It was. Yesterday they showed the Chewbacca Defense episode. My two favorites in two days! And I really do not watch South Park at all these days.
In honor of that, I give you some ( YouTubage, South Park & GI Joe, may not be safe for work )

What's that you say? You want Metafilter meta-wankery about meta-wankery in fandom (with a big article that talks a lot about Supernatural, I only skimmed the article but believe it contains no spoilers, it's about a con). Well, then, here you go.
Along the lines of feminist ranting, I was reminded while re-tagging old entries earlier today of the time back in L-town that I tried to start a chapter of Riot Grrrl. I put up posters around town! I think it was in connection with my awesome thesis about punk girls and... psychology. The only person who ever called me wanting to join was a skinhead named Howard who had just gotten out of jail. Hee. Oh, memories.

I voted this morning, being a good civic-duty-er. Edwards was my horse in this race, and I'm disappointed he's out of the picture, though I hope for VP-dom for him. After waffling with strong amounts of indecision on my two remaining candidates, I took one last look at the "issues" on Clinton and Obama's web sites and went to fill in the blanks on a ballot. I went with Obama, because while I'm not convinced that he could govern right off the bat the way Hillary could, I do believe he will honestly try and that he'll put a really good-faith effort into sticking with the view/ideas he has expressed. A lot of my support for Hillary really stemmed from my reaction to her nay-sayers and critics, because I truly think a lot of the flak she's gotten has been misogynistic, and that really bothers me. But she's espoused views that are too centrist/conservative for my taste. I actually don't think she truly believes some of the middle of the road things she says she does, but all I have to go on is what she says and how she's acted in the Senate, and that doesn't warm the cockles of my commie lefty little heart. So that's that. Secret ballot my ass, I have a blog! My voting record, let me show you!

Being all posty about shows, hows about a list of upcoming shows I'd like to go to, if anyone wants to keep me company?
April 3: Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks (Paradise)
April 20: Neil Hamburger You know you want more Neil Hamburger! (Middle East upstairs)
May 9: Clinic (Paradise)
And of course, there's Rush inFebruary July.
I'm reading Bill Bryson's "The Mother Tongue" right now; it's about the history of the English language. Really interesting, and chock full of neat factoids, but I'm put off by the organizational style of the book. In that, it doesn't feel like it has much organization. So I'm balancing it out with a light read about a Victorian lady solving murders with the help of a sexy mysterious stranger.
Also, Supernatural last night kicked some eff'n ass! What a great show. It brings me much joy.

Yesterday I was getting all fandom wanky and was working on a large Supernatural meta post, but I'm... not comfortable posting it. It also needs more thought and polishing up than I have time to do. But it did get me to thinking on a larger scale, and I think I'm going to delve into a more researchy project involving the show and gender theory. Hi. I am a librarian, and I want to write research papers for fun. The Boston Public Library has a surprising amount of databases available online, all you need is a library card number and you can research away. I want to jump right in, and I have some ideas rattling around in my head, but I feel like I need to re-ground myself in some theory and methodology before I start re-watching episodes with a pad of paper in hand.
Also, thanks to The Venture Brothers I can't read Henry Kissinger's name without thinking "I am Dr. Henry Killinger and this is my magic murder bag."

You know what feels kind of silly? Making more than one phone call to inquire about stores' stocks of fresh turkeys. I want fresh, not frozen! Un-brined so I can brine it myself! Wait- as I wrote this, I succeeded in finding one! Sweet. Poultry is good.
I am way more excited than I should be, as a sane person, for the season premiere of Supernatural tonight. Also- Gossip Girl mildly caught my interest last night, enough for me to keep it on probation for one more week, but it's still not nearly as charming as I'd hoped it would be. Dirty Sexy Money last night was not as entertaining as the pilot, but it was still much more awesome than I had anticipated this series would be. Also very excited for 30 Rock and the Office tonight! I watch too much tv!
In non-tv news, kung-fu continues to rock, as last night I attempted spinning reverse fan kicks.

Last night I caught the season premiere of How I Met Your Mother. The only thing I really have to say about it now is please, please, please can laugh tracks go away? I will laugh when something is funny, I don't need canned laughter to help me out! It seems so out of place and disconcerting, especially now that I'm usually watching laugh-track-free shows like The Office, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, and cartoons. Anyway, it's a cute show, I'll give it a chance.
Switching gears to consumption of other mass media- The Onion AV Club posted an interesting music list last week (via Metafilter when I finally got around to reading the thread). I have to agree with much of the list, though I'd argue that Helium's Magic City should be replaced with Built To Spill's Perfect From Now On. I do think that one could argue the same "199_ is the new 19__" with almost any year (other than 1999, that was a crap year for music. Can I tell you how glad I am that numetal and rap-rock are mostly dead?). I mean, 1994 had: Beastie Boys' "Ill Communication," Beck's "Mellow Gold," Bikini Kill's "Pussy Whipped," Jeff Buckley's "Grace," Built to Spill's "There's Nothing Wrong With Love," Green Day's "Dookie," (shut up I love that album) Hole's "Live Through This," NIN's "The Downward Spiral," Nirvana's "Unplugged," Pavement's "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain," Pearl Jam's "Vitalogy," Portishead's "Dummy," Sebadoh's "Bakesale," Smashing Pumpkins' "Pices Iscariot," Soul Coughing's "Ruby Vroom," Superchunk's "Foolish," Stone Temple Pilot's "Purple." Oh god, is that what's going to be playing on "classic rock" radio stations when we're 40?
I do contend that Ok Computer is one of the top 10 best rock albums of all time. Or at least, of my lifetime.

So we're watching Friday Night Lights, and I turn to Drew and say "If I played football, I'd want to be the one who runs into dudes and tackles them! Drew says "You want to be a linebacker?!" Yup. My name is Jennie. I am 4'11.5". And I want to be a linebacker.
Seriously, you guys, Friday Night Lights is so good. *love*
Also, as a cupcake reference, to make sure we were being fair to Kickass Cupcakes, we sampled the chocolate cupcakes from The Spotted Apron in Boston. $2.85 per cupcake, but sized somewhere between Lyndell's cupcake size and a Dunkin Donut muffin. So, not huge, but more than three bites. Verdict: Pretty darn good. The cake was really dense, but it was also very moist and richly chocolately (the kind that makes you go for a glass of milk, if you are a milk-drinker). The frosting didn't knock my socks off, with a cake that dense I would have preferred a very whipped & airy frosting instead of an equally dense frosting, but it was a light layer on top. Very heavy mouthfeel, but you know, for a cupcake that's almost 3 bucks, I want to feel like I'm eating something. In my mind, that was a cupcake worthy of its price tag. Still prefer Lyndell's overall, but I feel like I've judged the new cupcakery fairly and against a more worthy competitor, since the K.C. propriertor keeps posting online about how Lyndell's uses poor ingredients and "you get what you pay for."

Ack! I just spilled a bunch of White-Out on my black pants. Googling presents a cure of spraying said pants with WD40. I question that, but apparently a damp paper towel only makes the situation worse.
So this weekend involved admitting to myself that I often have truly terrible taste. For instance, I think I might enjoy My Chemical Romance as much as I enjoy Dashboard Confessional. Not as much as I love Blink-182. I may actually be a 12 year old boy.
In other questionable taste news, I discovered that I could really like Supernatural. Or at least the fanfic written by Supernatural fans. I also enjoyed an episode of Battlestar Galactica, so I'm not writing off the show entirely just yet. It's really Baltar (sp?) that makes that show.
Also, Achewood is utterly hilarious.

So aside from Friday night's little "adventure," this weekend was great. Sat. night we trekked to Brookline for
gatz's birthday. Yesterday I had a really long girls' brunch. It's been way to long since I've seen those folks, must be social with them more often. Oh, and the new Family Guy episode totally rocked. I'm very unsure about American Dad, it just doesn't quite hit my funnybone the right way.

Last night one of my favorite Christmas specials was on. The one with the mice and the clock and the singing... Tee-hee.
This past weekend was very, very lazy. Had a fabulous time at the Second Circle Yankee Swap party. So fabulous that by the end of the night, I was sleeping on
jawalter's bed. It was late, and I was sleepy. On Saturday, Drew & I spent the entire day watching movies. Seriously, all day. Bubba Ho-Tep, Elf, and Envy were amusing, Chronicles of Riddick was... not exactly my cup of tea, and OutFoxed was anger-inducing. Sunday we ran errands and were super-productive around the house. It's nice to have weekends like that once in a while.

Argh. My turntable amp has gone completely missing. I know I packed it when we moved, but now it's nowhere to be found, and I've torn the place apart. As soon as I buy a new one, I'm sure the old one will turn up. I feel like there's an entire box of my stuff that's just gone, and I have no idea where it is.
The Librarian is on now, and it's pretty cheesy.
EDIT: Drew is a genius and has figured out how to connect the turntable to the tv for sound. Genius!

Pumpkin cake in the oven on a fall day is among the best things ever. Walked all over creation today to obtain litter for the bunnies, but it was gorgeous out, so it was well worth the trouble. I think fall makes up for miserable New England winters; it's such a sensual time, so many smells and sounds and sights all popping out.
There's a John Wilkes Boothe special on tv, and it reminds me of the "It Wasn't Me" JWB montage. Heh.
Apologies to
cosmicserpent and
starflow for sucking out on the plan to go dancing last night. I left the Beer Summit volunteer thingy to come home for dinner, and my limbs were too heavy with sleep to get it together to head out again. I haven't been sleeping well lately, but that's not a great excuse.
Yesterday I did manage, though, to find The Dress. Now I'm a little kurfuzzled, as The Dress is way more expensive than I had hoped (even on discount web sites), and I'm not sure if it's within my dad's price range. We'll see. It's very purty.

Also managed to get the clip of O'Reilly on the Daily Show last week to work, and was a little disappointed that Jon Stewart didn't lay into him more. Reading the transcript from when Stewart was on the O'Reilly Factor, however, is amusing. O'Reilly just kept going on and on about how Kerry went on the Daily Show and never went on the Factor.

Well,
c_m_i encapsulates my weekend very well, but I would subsitute "watched Farscape with Tenille" for bunny cage stuff. But yes, it was a very pleasant and excellent weekend.
Now, inspired by
cayetana's post, I'm going to post a few upcoming shows I'd like to attend. I'm with ya on the Mitch Hedburg, V, but the rest is a bit too roughly punk for my indie rock self. But, I see that Le Tigre is playing, and the Twilight Singers (which involves, of course, Greg Dulli from the Afghan Whigs... the man -is- indie rock in such a raw sense, I can't miss him this time around), and my friend's band, the Punk Monkees this Friday at O'Briens. C'mon, folks, we should hit up Sunset prior to, and then anyone who wants to come with should come support a fun local band. They're very tight, a little more on the pop/rock side of things, but still, it'll be a fun time. And, um, *scuffles feet* Futher Seems Forever and Brandston are playing an all ages show at Axis next month. I love these bands. Like, in a very embarrassingly emo way; but I am afraid of the 13 year old emo kids who love Dashboard that will crowd around me. If anyone wants to come with me, I would be your best friend (and buy you a beer). It's early on a Sat. night, so it's not like it'll kill the night.... Oh, and I'm seeing Pearl Jam and Deathcab when they come to town, due to my brother's ticket generosity (if nothing else, I'm sure he'll bit at the Further & Brandston show, too. We Moore's like our punk poppy and our emo sappy).

So one of my co-workers just called to say she has strep throat, which means there is a 90% chance that the throat misery I've been suffering with for the past couple of weeks is also strep throat (considering I probably gave the sickness to her in the first place). Bah! 'Least I get to leave work early today, albeit to go to the doctor for a germ test.

Well, it was indeed a weekend. Wait- it was a good weekend!
Yesterday we hitched a ride with
komos,
wisdom_seeker and
jawalter to RI for a birthday/bbq bash at
alex_victory's place. It was really nice to see some folks I hadn't seen in a while. We then had a Providence Experience, which is on par with every frickin' time I go to Providence (i.e. various stages of "getting lost" occur), which did result in tasty dinner and relaxing with good conversation and beer. We sang a terribly inappropriate song over and over, and Drew taught us naive ones the meaning of some truly horrific pop-culture tidbits (I'm not sure if it counts as pop-culture, but it does count as horrific).
Saturday was consumed by the Beer Summit volunteer party, which was, as always, a blast. Now to feul my newfound Ali G Show obsession.... oh, HBO, you are my friend.
Friday, went out to dinner with some friends from an old job, which was quite nice. Planning annoyances notwithstanding, it ended up being a good night, as any night spent bar hopping with Drew tends to be (awwwwww).
Grens had once again escaped from her cage this morning, and was sitting on the box of hay munching happily when I poked my head in the room. She's a smart little rabbit.

Ok, we have a serious fly situation in here that is just not good. I've been unsuccessfully swatting at them all night, and have little packets of mint and bay leaves lying around to ward them off. Ew, ew, ew. Flypaper is my number one priority for tomorrow. Bugs in the house feels like such an invasion.
Six Feet Under tonight totally redeemed itself from last week's pain.
Yesterday
c_m_i and
jawalter trekked up to Maine with me for a baseball game. Every summer, my dad buys tickets for everyone on his side of the family to go to a Portland Seadogs game together. My crazy aunt chatted me up and cornered me into giving her my email address. This is a woman who married my uncle, divorced him, married another guy, divorced him, then married my uncle again. She offered me her thrice used wedding dress, as I had said that I'm looking to be thrifty and unconventional. I avoided saying the obvious "no thanks, lady, that's a huge pile o' bad luck" by telling her that I'm looking for a blue or lavender dress. Yikes. Have I mentioned that I kind of, sort of, only a little bit, want to try on a white dress, just to see what it looks like? *shakes head* Only because I can't go dressed like a pirate. Drew's mom sent me a wedding magazine, and it most certainly reinforced my belief that the wedding industry is a scary, bloated business. I'm just not that kind of girl- I dreamt of being a rock star, not a pretty princess. The whole diamond thing boggles my mind, as I actually find them kind of tacky. But I do like the idea of throwing a kick ass party, and that's what we'll deliver. Plus, I am a bit of a romantic, underneath it all
Alright, time to finish the new David Sedaris book.

Last night I discovered that we get VH1 Classic, as well as a host of other MTV/VH1 channels that actually play music videos. Now I can stay hip to what the kids are listening to these days.
So yesterday marked the end of an era. No longer will I walk down the street and hear "Hey! Hey! I like dat thing in your lip." Nor will I hear "can you squirt water out of that?" Nope, I won't even hear "I gotta ask?..did that hurt?" The lip ring is gone. *sniff* I may have wibbled a bit when I walked out of the piercing studio with my little ring in a little bag. Old habits die hard, I keep trying to play with it with my tongue, and am still making the dumb faces I used to make when I fooled around with it. I'd had it since the summer after junior year in college, and as I'm an attention-whore, I really did kind of like that it made me different. But hey, with the new job I'll be able to buy cool clothes and neat shoes. I'm gonna have to dye my hair a brighter shade of red to keep the dowdy at bay. Plus, I'm gonna get a tattoo, thus keeping at least a marginal amount of punk rock cred alive.

Today has been such a productive day. Did groceries, made trip to Brooks for non-grocery household items (though slightly foiled, as I went before the pharmacy opened), did laundry, another trip to Brooks for anti-baby pills, made some strawberry-rhubarb tart and then dinner, read, watched the Simpsons, and watched the highly anticipated season premiere of Six Feet Under. I think SFU has earned the right to be called the best show on television ever, beating out my long-standing #1 of My So-Called Life. I cried at the end, not for anything specific, just the reminder of mortality in general. *sniff* It was a damn good episode, everything they do is just so well-written and well-played.
So yesterday we finally saw Harry Potter 3. I liked it, but not really as much as the first 2, although I think this was the best film of the three. It was probably more the vague headached I had all day more than the actual movie that lead to that conclusion. Anyway, after that we hit Kowloons and tikied. Kowloons makes me insanely happy. Yay for Kowloons. Someday we have to try that Bali-Hai place that's off of 95.
Tomorrow morning I have my big important interview. I'm never nervous for interviews, but am really nervous for this one. Not so much for what I'll say, as I have an over-abundance of confidence for my ability to actually interview and speak about myself, but more for how I'll look. I think my looking too young is a big detriment (especially in a field where most people are 40+), and it's something I can't do a whole lot about. I'll wear businessy clothes and my nice suit jacket, and I'll try to get makeup to give me a few more years, but I'll still look like an 18 year old girl. Big shoes- huge heels will be a must tomorrow.

Over the past few days I've regained my cooking prowess after some hilarious fiascoes. Corn on the cob with lime-cilantro butter, cherry cobbler, cajun-garlic pork, and oven-roasted sage potatoes are all most excellent things.
Though I swallow my pride a little to admit it, last night I watched For Love or Money 3. Yup. It was pretty entertaining.

Last night I finally did it. I cooked a dinner that was so thouroughly inedible that I threw it away and went out to buy us something from the place down the street.
I'm not sure if it's a testament to his memory or my "familiar face," but the guy who works at my gym said "4 times in a row this week, that's awesome!" to me when I went in today. I'm walking tons more lately, but need to keep toning with weights. My calf muscles are insanely toned by now, but I'd like my arms to catch up to their buffness.
As others have mentioned, I'm a little sad about the end of the Buffy era. I never got into Angel, and stopped watching after Buffy itself ended, but still. It's rare that I'll enjoy a tv show that much, but those were some well-written/acted programs. Heh. Though I did have a little bit of a sniffle at the Las Vegas season finale this week (stop laughing!). Sometimes I'm just a sentimental sap.

Good lord. So just a minute ago, my landlord's son or grandson (not sure which) pulled into the driveway, as is his wont, shut the lights off quickly, but didn't get out of the car right away. Then a cop car drove slowly by with its lights flashing. The cop car turned around at the end of the street and drove back (this time going the wrong way down the one-way street). I hear the son guy open the front door to the building, and then the cop calls out his name on the car megaphone. Hmmm. I just heard the guy come back in the building, so apparantly it's no big deal? Very odd.
Today was simply fabulous. I love taking the long way home, to get the most walking enjoyment. I got the A-Dot caught up on more 6 Feet Under this evening, and am now putting cds into ITunes and am pondering when I should do a CD Reorganization. You indie rockers know what I'm talking about. Do I do them alphabetically? Perhaps alpha by album title, mixing it up a bit? Autobiographical? I can probably tell you a story behind 90% of the cds I own. Granted, some of them will be lame stories.
I realized again today how fantastic Sonic Youth's "Wish Fulfillment" is. What a great song.
*Ok, Drew just came home earlier than I expected, and stood outside of the window by the computer, which also faces the driveway. In the seconds it took me to recognize him, I thought that perhaps it was the guy from upstairs, and that I'd seen too much of the earlier cop throw-down. Time for bed.

What a quiet day.
So, as basha pointed out: Farscape is coming back! Well, sorta. But still, that excites me so much. Hold on... sorry... my geek is showing.
Tonight I am off to a Britney Spears concert. My brother had a ticket that was going to waste, and he wants company at the show, so I figure it'll be good karma to keep him company amidst the sea of 14 year olds.
Last night
komos came over and I made a tasty (least I hope it was tasty) dinner for us all, and we consumed the Best Beer In The World. I believe it was called Quelque Chose, and it was really quite good.

Field Trip, Field Trip! Ok, yesterday's class was fairly unbearable, but Drew promises that the rest of the week will be super sweet. Besides, it's a week I'm not working, so that's gotta count for something. Today I don't even have to go in to Simmons, we're going on a field trip. Visiting some consulting place in the Hancock building, getting free lunch, and then visiting some other place. I even finished my paper that's due Wed. last night, while watching the exciting first few episodes of Six Feet Under season 2 with the ADot. I love that show much! I don't even really know why, exactly, as many of the characters piss me off (and we definitely yelled at the screen a whole lot), but it's just so entertaining. It's really the first show since Buffy ended that's captured my full attention. Well, besides cartoons.
I'm thinking more about what I want to do with my life, and am torn between the sweet schedule of academic libraries, and the brutal but fiscally rewarding demands of corporate libraries. I think I'm drawn to the corporate side, but am leaning toward wanting to stay in law firms if I can. I figure if I end up stuffing my head full of this law stuff, it might as well go to some use. What I really want is to lord over my own little library, and am not sure which ranks it would be easier to rise through in a quick and timely way.
So yeah, I'd do the weekend recap, but you can just read it at
c_m_i.
Tonight I'm going to watch Drew play darts, and then we'll hit up karaoke night.

Am feeling super-competent today. Ordered thousands of dollars worth of books for the libes, am inputing records into the Automated Integrated Library System or whatever you call these things, and am feeling generally as if my job does indeed have meaning above and beyond stickering and stamping books. Of course, I did spend half my morning stickering books, but still.
I am also getting really excited, as (most of you have probably already seen this in his journal) Drew & I have decided that we're going to stick around- we had been waffling back and forth on the idea of moving to D.C. upon graduating.... I will be itching to leave Beantown sooner than later, but it'll be excellent to find a nice new place and not have to face utter upheaval of new jobs, friends far away, new city, yadda yadda.
Class tonight. Dear Lord. I will make it through. Case law is important, must learn case law. On another note- I finally paid attention to an episode of West Wing last night, and am totally and completely hooked. My dream job someday is to do research for some sort of political group or person... I know there are people who do that for Congressional conferences and committees, and it seems so nifty. All that political intrigue and drama! I definitely do not want to be the White House Press Secretary.

So it turned out that my class last night was cancelled, as our teacher has pneumonia. I feel bad for the poor lady, that sucks, but am also kind of glad I didn't miss anything important, as the class was going to be on case law and I probably shouldn't have missed it had it happened. But instead I bought shoes and expensive lotions, and went over to Tenille's. She made me yummy dinner and we lolled about watching tv and chatting. I just don't understand the appeal of Survivor at all. Of course, to go along with the week I've been having, I thought I was getting on the 86 bus to get out to her place, but instead got on the 66 and didn't realize it until I was in Allston and confused. Then I had to jump on the 57 bus, and ran into a friend's ex-boyfriend who I hadn't seen in ages, so it was nice to catch up.

Oh good lord. Carnivale just showed me exactly what a lot of dying bunnies look and sound like. *shiver*
I also learned a valuable lesson about letting the laundromat do my laundry: only bring one bag. I nearly lost half my wardrobe as one of my bags of clothes didn't have a receipt on it, just a Post-It with a question mark. But I found it, and all is good.

Holy crap. Rich Girls is bizarrely entertaining. Wow. There was a crazy lady in a beauty parlor with a bunny in a bag, and the girls said "gross, that's like a big rodent." And the crazy lady said she takes the bunny everywhere in the city with her.
Gah! This is why my paper isn't getting done.
Will heading out to socialize and Carnivale-ize soon, and my hangover is now gone.
Last night = Awesome. It was fabulous to see everyone, and once I took my shoes off I danced and, um, broke a bottle. Also ran into a random Batesie amongst all the BU folk, which was odd but kinda neat. Yaaay!!

Ok, so this weekend was overall quite lovely, you can read about it here:
c_m_i. Except Friday I did not get my geek on, rather, Tenille and I rented a couple of volumes of Queer as Folk, got chinese food, and lolled about. I *heart* QaF, it's such a great show.
Yesterday Christine came to visit. We walked around the [disappointing] Octoberfest, looking for beer, but there was no beer. So we went to Grafton Street for said Beer, but couldn't get seats at the bar. We then went to John Harvard's, where they would not serve Miss Christine, as she had forgotten her ID at her parents' house. So we went to Redline, where I am well known enough such that we didn't get carded, and we settled in for drinkin'. Drew and Mikesell joined us, and talk of politics ensued. Mentally, I think I checked out about an hour before we left, as I ended up feeling like I was "marching drunk" without the hilarious marching. And I'm still hungover right now. Good lord.

It's fantastic when things work out.
Tomorrow I have an interview at MIT, to follow up after the phone interview from last week.
Next week I have one at Northeastern.
And the ball is in motion onnepotism being taken care of by current employer. Which, really, would be fantastic. Though MIT would also be fantastic, especially since most of the people working there are apparantly younger than the average librarian, thus meaning possible new additions to the after-work social hour. I like making friends at work.
Not sure how it'll all shake out in the end, but it's good to see that after getting shut down for a bunch of crappy jobs I now have some highly desirable ones in the works. (well...Northeastern's hours would mean some social life sacrifices, but if I want a paycheck with which to have a social life I'm willing to compromise).
It's a tad eerie that I tend to get the majority of my calls for interviews when my boss is notably absent from work. Coincidence? Hrmm.
Mere & Jeremy came over last night, we chatted it up and watched way too much Comedy Central- that Reno 911 show is hilarious! They may be staying tonight, or may not be. But if they're staying I wanna show 'em a good time, so we may be out drinkin'. Especially since I don't have to work tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day that bunny fluffkins goes to the vet to become less of a woman. Poor little bunny.

So my boss this morning, after I tell the story of the latest job debacle, says "life just sucks." To which I was glad I could reply, "well, not really." The little bumps are just that. And cookies n' cream ice cream with a bottle of Arbor Mist can help to put things in perspective, as can a very nice roommate and a very nice boyfriend who will listen to rantings and then make me laugh about it. That, and watching the Marklar episode of South Park. Oh, and seeing the Boston episode of Insomniac on Comedy Central- that sewage treatment plant is, um, rockin'(?) Yeah.
So, anything going on tonight? I'm not sure what I'm in the mood to do, but it is Friday and all.

So T. and I watched the new Joe Millionaire-esque show "For Love or Money" last night. tee-hee. It's endlessly entertaining. At one point, two girls walked into a fancy room in the mansion, one said that it was the kind of room where one would "like, sit and read a novel." the other girl very incredulously replied "you read?" the first girl then laughed and said "no." What kind of question is "you read?"?? It's not like "you play tennis?" or "you speak five languages?" Anyway, maybe we're the weird ones, with our books that we read during commercial breaks. Anyway, it's some entertaining viewing.

i have now done more work than i usually do in an entire day, thus giving me license to slack for the remainder of the day.
so, it's snowing. the reason i'm at home is that there is supposedly roof work being done over my cube, thus forcing my boss and i to flee. with this snow, i'm thinking they can't possibly get the work done today. so, mayhaps tomorrow will bring more "work-from-home" fun? i'll cross my fingers.
oh, i also wanted to add to the Angel fans chorus: Faith! Eliza Dushku is Awesome. i actually don't really like Angel all that much, the writing on Buffy is far superior, and Angel tends to lack wit. and it lacks Andrew, who is quickly becoming my favorite Buffy character.
whee. i'm gonna read a book now.
